*keeps fingers crossed for Emily!!*
When I called to see if they would release any info on her face mold, I was told Emily is one of the dolls being considered for release and they are not even sure if she is the one that is going to be released. Yea, right. She said there is conflicting info on the Internet and the different sites (I have not seen any). Also, she said she had been getting alot of calls about this. I can't quite figure CS out sometimes. She was not rude but sure seemed a bit put off when I mentioned Emily.

AG is so silly.
Wasn't the picture in some official thing of theirs STATING that Emily was coming out this year? LOL!
I like that they're trying for a bit of surprise, but it's a bit late for that. If they didn't want people to know, they should have held onto the information a bit longer. Or at least the picture.
It has to be really difficult for the CS reps to deal with all the questions they must get about future releases. I'm sure they are given a list of things they can and cannot say, and because they are not allowed to really tell us anything, it comes off sounding detached or "put off". Personally, I don't think I couold handle their job,and I have the utmost admiration for those who remain pleasant (pun intended) under pressure.
sometimes I think we know more than they do....the employees may not be getting the information..
I'm sure AG is greatly disappointed that Emily has already been unveiled to the masses, so to speak. Maybe some heads rolled over this and employees are a little skittish about the subject.

The CS reps probably can't say anything about it- and although I know this wasn't your intention, I don't think we should antagonize them with questions and then be upset when we don't get the answers we want. Maybe they haven't officially decided to release her. She was pictured in accordance with the movie. The movie is for sure being released- perhaps the final decision on the doll hasn't been (of course, if history repeats itself, she will be- but the decision is not final)

Although there have been hints here about Emily for many months, the real source of all our information now is from Mattel's own stockholder report. If just one person here held Mattel stock, we could have gotten the information, anyway. A member here found it because it appears publically on the web (which can be found through google.com).
They also file trademarks a year in advance, and Emily is the only friend trademarked at this point, so I don't believe there is more than one friend in the works.
There are ways AG could be more secretive. They could file multiple trademarks at once. I personally don't understand why they don't, if they plan on making everyone a friend doll. If I were them, I'd trademark all the remaining friends right now. That would foil all us trademark hunters right away! It would cost money, but they have abandoned so many trademarks at this point it would be a drop in the bucket.
At the same time, I think that some customer service people may not know anything about Emily yet. It's funny, because when I go in businesses and ask where something is, I'm often told: "We definitely do not have that." I've stopped asking--now I look for myself. Just to say, people who work at places don't necessarily know everything about the business. Chances are, even if they do, additional details about Emily also are not allowed to be divulged.
When I called to inquire about Emily I very politely asked if she could divulge the information about the face mold. I did not know it, but my DD had previously called them and they told her that all they were allowed to say was that Emily is Molly's best friend and she will be the next friend in the friends line. So it seems different CS reps either handle the question differently or some of them are more informed than others. This was not meant as a criticism of CS, as I am sure it is a tough job. I personally deal with the public in my profession, and I can appreciate how difficult dealing with the public can be which is exactly why I asked the question very politely, and made sure I thanked her for her time.
